What I Believe In

"I believe in the sun,
even when it doesn't shine.

I believe in love,
even when it isn't shown.

I believe in God,
even when He doesn't speak."

Fallen Towers and 9/11

Luke 13:4-5 - [Jesus answered], "Or those ... who died when the tower ... fell on them - do you think they were more guilty than all the others living ...? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

It was 2,000 years ago and Jesus was talking about a different incident, but His words are as true today as they were then, as we reflect on the 5th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Tragedy and disaster strike good and bad people alike. Jesus reminds us that we all have sinned, and we all must repent, and we all need the salvation that only He can give us.

Well Done!

Matthew 25:21 - "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

Those are the words that I want to hear when I get to heaven.

That's what I'm holding out for. That's what I want to hear. Nothing else really matters. There's no other prize, award, honor, compliment, or congratulation which is more important. It's bigger than the Super Bowl trophy, or the Stanley Cup, or an Olympic gold medal, or an Oscar, or the Congressional Medal of Honor. It's bigger than all of them put together. And it's what I want.

We know what we have to do to hear these words from God. If we show ourselves faithful with a few things in this life, and if we love God and others, and if we serve others instead of being served, and if we show our faith by our works, then when we arrive in heaven, it's likely that we'll hear God say the same words to us. There are no sweeter words which could ever be heard.

"Well done, good and faithful servant!''

That's what I'm holding out for.

Those are the words that I want to hear from the lips of God.
